[OSEN = Reporter Noh Jin-joo] Son Heung-min (32, Tottenham) is recovering from his injury and preparing to return.
“The Spurs Web,” which delivers Tottenham news, cited Paul O’Keefe’s remarks familiar with the club’s internal news on the 12th (Korea Standard Time), saying, “Son Heung-min and Hisalisson will fully participate in team training next week,” referring to the possibility of playing against West Ham United.
Tottenham will face West Ham in the Premier League this season at 8:30 p.m. on the 19th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
During the UEFA Europa League match against Karabakh on April 27, Son complained of thigh pain and requested replacement. Right before the match, he expressed concern over excessive schedule of the match, which eventually collapsed on the ground clutching his thighs. In fact, Son has continued his compulsory military campaign since September by playing national team matches with his teams in England, Korea, and Oman.
꽁머니 Manager Engie Postecoglou has given Son time to concentrate on recovering from his injury. He was excluded from the list of players in the sixth round match of the Premier League against Manchester United on Sept. 30. Postecoglou said after the match, “He is not in good condition,” adding that he will closely monitor his condition going forward.
Son’s injury was more serious than expected. “He is still in London for rehabilitation,” Postecoglou told a press conference in advance of the away game in Ferencvaros, the UEFA Europa League, on Wednesday. As Son’s physical condition is not good enough to play yet, he was not included in the Korean national team’s roster for the first time in October.
Son Heung-min also failed to play in the Premier League match between Tottenham and Brighton on Sunday. He said it was too early to return to the team.
Meanwhile, reporter O’Keefe, who is well aware of Tottenham’s internal situation, hinted that Son Heung-min, who has about three weeks of recovery, is likely to play in the league’s showdown with West Ham on the 19th.
In addition, “Premier Injury Dotcom,” which deals with news related to Premier League injuries, predicted, “Son Heung-min is likely to return to the match against West Ham on the 19th.”
