It has been argued that Liverpool’s symbol Mohamed Salah is not a world class.
“Former EPL star Troy Deeney said he doesn’t think Salah is a world-class player and that young players should look up to Vinicius Junior,” the soccer media “Goldcom” reported on the 17th (Korea time).
Salah is a living legend of Liverpool. After joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah played for the club for seven years and scored 221 goals to rank fifth as the club’s all-time leading scorer. With 165 goals, he ranked eighth in the EPL. Thanks to Salah, Liverpool won a total of eight trophies under Jurgen Klopp.
Salah changed 비아마켓‘s history, but there was someone who claimed he was not a world class player. It was Deeney. Deeney was a player who played for Watford for 11 years from 2010 to 2021. He was a striker who scored 140 goals for Watford when he was an active player.
“I think Salah is excellent. He is a pivotal player for Liverpool and I don’t think he should let his contract end. But I understand that there is a financial structure that Liverpool wants to maintain,” Deeney said through Talk Sports in England.
Deeney continued, “I’ve always maintained that Salah is not a world class. But the world class is just a different opinion. The world class I think is whether my kids want to play like that player.”
Finally, Deeney said, “If you ask kids who want to be strikers, they will say they want to see Vinicius do it, not Salah. But Salah scores an incredible number of goals. Salah is effective, but it’s just my opinion.”
Vinicius is Real Madrid’s ace. He contributed to Real Madrid’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League victory with 24 goals and 11 assists in 39 matches during the 2023/24 season. As a result, he was mentioned as a strong candidate for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, but Rodri, not Vinicius, won the prize.
